Holybro

Holybro Pixhawk 6X

Open-standard flight controller with triple-redundant IMUs and Ethernet. The reference board for PX4 and ArduPilot builds.

Strengths

  • Redundant, vibration-isolated sensors on separate buses
  • Ethernet makes Raspberry Pi or Jetson integration clean
  • Officially supported by PX4's maintainers

Trade-offs

  • Overkill for a small FPV racing quad
  • Buy the current revision; older revisions are discontinued

The Pixhawk 6X is built to the open Pixhawk standard, which is why so much drone research and commercial mapping runs on it. Three IMUs on isolated buses mean a single failing sensor doesn’t bring the aircraft down, and the modular design lets you mount the flight controller on different baseboards.

Its Ethernet port is the reason to choose it over the cheaper 6C. You can connect a Raspberry Pi 5 or a Jetson as a companion computer for vision, obstacle avoidance or autonomous missions without fiddly serial links.

Not for FPV racing. Small acro quads use lighter, simpler flight controllers running Betaflight. The Pixhawk is for autonomy.
